The Elsewhere
Independent Short Film
This 8-minute short explores the tension between fear and longing, inspired by an early memory of pressing my face against the patterned glass door at my grandmother's house, watching figures blur into shifting silhouettes. I approached the visual design by creating a world that feels both distant and intimate — softened silhouettes, layered blur, and fragmented shapes that keep forms from fully resolving. The film's tone was shaped in close collaboration with the composer and sound team, balancing quiet restraint with a subtle sense of unease.
Film by Chun Chun Chang | Original Score by Sturdivant Adams | Cello Performance by Alex Mansour | Supervising Sound Editor Alex Gregson | Sound Designer & Re-Recording Ryan Sweetman | Character Vocalisations Claudia Stephenson | SFX Editor Max Finlayson
